Dream Worlds
Shadows & Whispers Kit
Delft, NL 2025
In the Delft Science Centre Techniek Atelier’s Dream Worlds: Shadows and Whispers, workshop participants will take the ideas, shapes and technologies from Philip Beesley’s collaborative artwork to make their own sculpture ‘instruments.’ These instruments can allow participants to discover and express their own world.
The workshop features technologies found at TU Delft including smart materials and digital fabrication. By building and exploring with these instruments, participants can fuel their imagination and push the boundaries of creativity as they shape the world around them. Participants of all ages will gain an understanding of quickly emerging technology and the surrounding world of nature. They will learn about how we perceive and evoke life through structure, movement, sound, and light using Shadows and Whispers kits. Students can quickly and easily create their own instruments for exploring concepts that bridge science and expressive art. By experimenting and refining their creations by exploring sound, light, structure, motion, and simple controls, their creations will be brought to life.
Shadows and Whispers kits can empower young students and allow them to create expressive constructions that help to connect their own experiences with the world around them. Older students can explore complex systems and conceptual questions, interpreting the built environment around them by designing expressive elements of living architecture.
